The House
First, the house…Casa Fortezza is a Grand house in the old sense of the word…it’s large, strong, solid…Built nearly 250 years ago, it’s a uniquely large house in that it’s a warm, welcoming house. The thick stonewalls provide a welcoming coolness in summer and reassuring warmth in winter. The house has 4 original fireplaces and 5 baths. There’s even a library/reading room. All the bedrooms, 5 in total (of which 3 are matrimonials, 2 doubles), are beautifully, but comfortably, appointed with antique furniture. Practical appointments include a full size kitchen, dining area and washing machine.
The Views & Grounds
As the Italians say, the view is “senza pare” -- without peer…Casa Fortezza enjoys what even veteran travelers to Italy call one of the most spectacular views in all of the peninsula. The natural beauty makes visitors feel a strength of spirit borne of all this natural beauty just beyond the front door.
Walk out that door and you see a breathtaking view of the Sibillini Mountains in all their grandeur. Look to the north and you see the classic hilltop town of San Ginesio -- Italian television just did a feature show touting it as one of the most beautiful hilltowns in Italy. On a clear day, due east, you can catch a glimpse of the Adriatic Sea…And, between San Ginesio and the mountains, Casa Fortezza affords you views of a classic Italian landscape – rolling, verdant hills, and, in summer, bright fields of sunflower and grain.
Closer-in, the property is perfectly landscaped – a large lawn and terraced land. A sizable swimming pool – 4m x 12m – with a view of the mountains is a welcome summer respite. Don’t forget the outdoor portico with archways and large dining table to accommodate your entire party

The provincial capital of Macerata is under 30 minutes by car and is famous for its magnificent amphitheater, opera and cultural attractions. |
